According to the American Society of Landscape Architects, hiring a Landscape Architect is one of the best investments for your home, adding as much as 15 percent to its value over comparable houses.  And unlike traditional home remodels, the value literally grows over time while you enjoy your professionally designed spaces.

Check out the Virginia Tech Research Project.

A Landscape Architect has earned a degree and experience in design and construction/build.
Landscape Architects and landscape contractors are complementary, but highly distinct professions.  Landscape Architects collaborate with many professionals, including landscape contractors, to insure the design is installed correctly and thoughtfully.

Before beginning the design process, a Landscape Architect focuses on the analysis of the clients needs and the site, and the stewardship of the land.

In addition to the analysis and design, a Landscape Architect can be hired for the installation administration and oversight.  They can act as the independent representative for the landscape design.  Although a contractors intentions are good, the design is not their product and the Landscape Architect can be the liaison between the owner and the contractor and the land to insure a professional installation that guarantees that the details and intent of the design are carried out through the end.

It is important for the client to find a Landscape Architect that has the right balance of design ability, professional service, construction/build experience, fair costs and personal comfort level.
